SAUK COUNTY FAIREST OF THE FAIR DEADLINE JUNE 20

 

BARABOO, WI—(May 8, 2008)—Wanted: one young person who wants to speak up about Sauk County’s premiere annual agricultural event, the Sauk County Fair. Applications now being accepted for the 41st annual Sauk County Fairest of the Fair competition and the deadline is June 20.

 

The Fairest of the Fair serves as the year-round ambassador for the largest free event in the county, the Sauk County Fair. This ambassador speaks throughout the year to various groups and organizations about the Sauk County Fair, promoting and educating the community about the agricultural, social and economic opportunities for the entire family.     

 

Yet, the fun doesn’t stop there. The Fairest of the Fair attends community events such as The Sauk County Dairy Breakfast, Butterfest and various parades as well as represents Sauk County at the State Fairest of the Fair competition in Wisconsin Dells in January. This year’s Fairest of the Fair will be crowned during the Sauk County Fair, July 7-13, and complete the reign as the official host of the 2009 Sauk County Fair. The ambassador receives a lifetime members and a travel stipend from the Sauk County Agricultural Society, owners of the Sauk County Fair and the fairgrounds, and a $500 scholarship from Badgerland Farm Credit Services.

 

The contest is open to legal Sauk County residents. Students at out-of-county colleges are eligible to compete. Contestants must be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2009.

Admission onto the Fairgrounds, located on Baraboo’s east side, remains free and daily free events include the 4-H Action Center, Barn Yard Theatre, 4-H/FFA projects, Open Class entries, live animals and judging, educational exhibits, commercial vendors and nightly music in the Litscher Pavilion.
