BARABOO,
Wis. (July 24, 2005) —This week 18 Sauk County youth are putting the finishing
touches on their dairy animals and the county display in preparation to
represent Sauk County at Wisconsin State Fair’s Junior Dairy Show Aug. 3–8,
thanks to businesses and individuals who donated over $5,400 for the Dairy
Gift-basket Auction held July 15, 2005 during the dairy show at the Sauk County
Fair. The Sauk County 4-H Dairy Committee organized the fifth-annual auction to
help cover the expenses—such as trucking, feed, bedding and supplies that
average $3,500 annually—for the 20 head of dairy cattle exhibited at the state
fair so all the youth who qualify for the state-level show have an affordable
experience.
The following businesses and individuals
purchased eight baskets
filled with donated dairy products, restaurant coupons and related items valued
at $175 each: Ag Consulting Team of
Sauk City; Bill Burton of Baraboo; Dairyland Veterinary Service of Reedsburg;
DeMars Plumbing of North Freedom; Duane and Jean Hegna family of Baraboo; Koenecke
Equipment of Reedsburg; Pete Litscher family of Baraboo; Reedsburg Bank of
Reedsburg; and Zick Farms Partnership of North Freedom.

and the following businesses donated
items or money for the baskets:
Alto Dairy Cooperative, Badgerland Farm Credit Services, Baraboo Candy
Company, Carr Valley Cheese, Community Bank of Spring Green and Plain, Culver’s
Franchising, Comfort Hoof Care Inc., Dairy Farmers of America, Foremost Farms
