Hello Sauk County Fair Website Visitors!

My name is Teyanna Marx and I am your current Fairest of the Fair. I was born and raised on a dairy farm just outside of Sauk City. My family's business has now turned into a certified organic crop farm and beef farm, with cats, dogs, pigs, chickens, and horses as well. My parents, Phil and Holly, and my brother Nathan, have always been my guiding light through everything I do. My roots began ten years ago at the fairgrounds in Baraboo, and over the course of those years I showed poultry, horses, swine, and various arts and crafts. I was involved in the Prairie Busy Badgers 4-H club and very active in my high school FFA. I am now attending the University of Wisconsin Madison where I am double majoring in Animal Science and Dance. I am also involved in the Optima Dance Student Org., and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. I am also employed as a waitress at Green Acres of Sauk City. Between my job of serving people meals and the motto in the FFA of "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve" I have developed my own personal philosophy on life: Treat everyone you come into contact with as your number one customer. A top scale restaurant can have the best filet mignon and lobster around, but if the server is not polite, welcoming, and helpful, the experience is never fully enjoyable. The difference between a good restaurant and a great restaurant isn't always just the quality of food, but the quality of service as well. If you make the personal choice to serve the world and have a great life over just a good life, your tips will be worth much more than money.

While being at this summer’s Sauk County Fair, I received many “tips” and witnessed the fair in a new light. One of the most rewarding experiences for me was handing out my Friend of the Fairest award. I personally designed this award for a 4-H member that did an outstanding job representing what the organization is all about: leadership, sportsmanship, helping peers, respecting leaders, and putting their best foot forward while always keeping a smile. I could have given each and every one of those kids a ribbon. The ones that did receive it were so grateful; it was a very rewarding experience to see our youth succeed and remain so excited about agriculture and their projects.

The whole week of the fair was a great success because of visitors like you. We filled the grandstands with over 3200 people to see the combine demolition, were shown how it’s done on Friday night by the Charlie Daniels Band, and cheered on celebrities in the cream puff eating contest. Thank you so much for visiting the fair, for none of these events would have become possible without audience members and participants! Have a fun filled remainder of the summer, and I will see you at next year’s Sauk County Fair for more new and exciting events!

May all your days be Fair Days
