SEPTEMBER 11 TRUCK, TRACTOR PULL

TO BENEFIT SAUK COUNTY YOUTH

BARABOO, WI—(August 15, 2005)—Looking to the future and area youth, the Sauk County Agricultural Society will host a truck and tractor pull to benefit young people involved in the annual Sauk County Fair. The Society hosts a Badger State Truck and Tractor Pull Sunday, September 11, beginning at 1 p.m. Admission onto the Fairgrounds remains free, while tickets to the Grandstand show are $15 per person and available beginning about an hour before the show.

This is the third fall truck and tractor pull hosted by the Society. Proceeds from it support the 450 4-H, FFA and junior breed association youth who annually participate in the Sauk County Fair.

The Ag Society has hosted a great event for a long time to Sauk County families, and do it in a quality facility, the board notes, adding that money raised from this truck and tractor pull will let it continue to meet the needs of youth and their time at the Fairgrounds. The Society owns the Fairgrounds and the county’s largest free family event. Admission onto the Fairgrounds remains free and includes free daily events such as the Youth Action Center, Barn Yard Theatre, barn tours and nightly music. Yet, Society directors acknowledge that there’s always a cost involved—even when something is free. Events like the pull help pay the bills.

Tractor pull categories include pro stock, super farm, light limited super and hot farm. The truck pull includes 4-wheel drive super stock. Some of the local competitors expected in the pull include Badger State Tractor Pullers members Mark Wyttenbach, and Dennis and Dan Frey, all of Sauk City; Todd Nehring, North Freedom; Greg Elsing, Prairie du Sac; and Randy Barreau and Scott Zirzow, Baraboo.
