DARRYL WORLEY, THE KENTUCKY HEADHUNTERS

HEADLINE 2005 SAUK COUNTY FAIR; TICKETS ON SALE TODAY

BARABOO, WI (March 18, 2005)—Darryl Worley and The Kentucky Headhunters both headline the main stage at the 2005 Sauk County Fair July 11-17 in Baraboo. The nationally acclaimed country musicians were signed this week to perform Friday, July 15, at 7 p.m. and advanced tickets start today via the Internet only. Tickets are $20 for general seating or $25 for standing-only stage side. Tickets can be ordered online through www.saukcountyfair.com or www.ticketweb.com.

Fans believe they know Worley’s music because of hits such as “I Miss My Friend,” “A Good Day to Run” and “Have You Forgotten.” But the 6’6” Tennessee traditionalist late last year issued an album that critics say completely reinvents him as an artist. Darryl Worley, his 2004 DreamWorks Records collection, is a revelation in every way. The songwriting, his vocal performances, the sound quality, the energy level and the sheer musicality of this album are all a leap beyond anything he has done to date, critics report. Two singles from the album -- “Awful, Beautiful Life” and “If Something Should Happen” – are hits.

With nominations from the Academy of Country Music as Top New Male Vocalist and the Country Music Association for his single, “Have You Forgotten?” Worley has a following. Yet, he may be just as excited as Fair concert-goers to be here. Why? Because he’s a die-hard Green Bay Packer backer as well as an Atlanta Braves fan.

Opening for Worley’s Friday night concert is Grammy-winning The Kentucky Headhunters band playing its renown variety of music in a wide range of styles. Clad in every-man’s Carhartts bib overalls, their influences stretch from Bill Monroe to McKinley Morganfield to the Beatles to the Rolling Stones to the Allman Brothers, and just about all points in between. Formed in 1968, band members took their name from the legendary Muddy Waters outfit while paying tribute to their home state. The Headhunters include brothers Richard and Fred K. Young (rhythm guitar and drums, respectively), cousins Anthony Kenney (bass) and Greg Martin (lead guitar), and long-time friend Doug Phelps (lead vocals and rhythm guitar).

Two new events are scheduled for the Fair’s grandstand. They include ATV races as well as a Battle of the Bands. The grandstand entertainment line-up at the 151st annual Fair includes:
